What hearing aids cost in India — and what you are really paying for

Why two quotes can differ by lakhs, what moves the number up or down, and how to compare offers without getting lost in model names.

What hearing aids cost in India — and what you are really paying for

There is no single hearing aid price

Search for a hearing aid price and you will find anything from a few thousand rupees to several lakhs. That spread is not a scam — hearing aids are not one product at one price. They are a family of devices at different technology levels, fitted by different clinics, often bundled with years of service.

In India, most clinic-fitted hearing aids fall into a broad range: simpler, entry-level devices at the lower end, and feature-rich digital models at the higher end. Where a device sits in that range depends far more on its technology level and style than on the brand name alone.

What actually moves the price

  • Technology level — how well the device separates speech from noise, and how automatically it adapts to your surroundings.
  • One ear or two — fitting both ears usually gives better balance and direction, and roughly doubles the device cost.
  • Style and customisation — custom in-ear shells need impressions and manufacturing; behind-the-ear devices use ready-made parts.
  • The package, not just the device — fitting sessions, follow-up fine-tuning, warranty and repair cover are all part of what a quote should include.

Why the cheapest option often costs more later

A device bought without a proper hearing assessment is priced for the box, not for your ears. If it is programmed to a generic setting instead of your audiogram, loud sounds may feel sharp, speech may stay unclear, and the device often ends up in a drawer.

The fitting and the follow-up visits are what turn a device into working hearing. When you compare quotes, ask what is included: how many adjustment visits, how long the warranty runs, and who you call when something goes wrong.

How to compare quotes fairly

Line up the same things in every quote: the exact model and technology level, one or two devices, the included service and warranty period. A quote that looks cheaper because it skips the follow-up visits is not cheaper.

Be cautious with unusually deep discounts on premium devices — verify the model number, the warranty in writing, and whether the clinic offers a trial period so you can return or exchange if the fit is wrong.

A fair price is one you can verify

No honest clinic can quote you meaningfully before an assessment. The right device for a quiet routine at home is different from the right device for a working person in meetings, traffic and phone calls.

At Greatsound, our price list will be published here once verified figures are available; until then we will not display estimated prices. What you can do today is book a hearing test, get your audiogram, and then ask for a written quote that lists what is included.
